Just make sure you allow enough room to cater for the roots of the plants, and for sufficient drainage. Direct the water to the roots and avoid it sitting in the crown of the plant as this can promote rot. Test the soil with your finger – if it feels dry, give it a little water. If you’re planting them in the garden, sandy free-draining soils work best. When planting in pots, the best soil for succulents is free-draining cacti and succulents potting mix. And with their low-maintenance needs and readiness to propagate, they’re easy to care for. If you are planting cacti in containers, it is recommended that you use a fertilizer that is high in nitrogen and phosphorus.

You can mix sand, gravel or volcanic rock into your container planting mix. With a nearly infinite number of varieties, succulent growing can keep even the most avid grower and collector interested. When planting in the garden, make sure the area is not in a low place that will get wet. The Dymondia was used here in all the areas where people would exit their parked cars, alternating with other taller succulents where no pedestrian access was required. Little ones also receive a book to take home. Others are very sensitive to cold so in cool areas, check before you buy.
